Troll Naturfärberei
(natural dyes) is an
eco-friendly manufacturer
of natural textile products, which are carefully dyed
and finished by hand.
Using our own recipes and 100% natural mordant and dyeing processes, we create unique textiles that are crafted into high-quality products.
Each of these unique items comes with its own certificate .

ABOUT
The Scandinavian-inspired Troll Naturfärberei is run by the Dane Rikke Sommer in the beautiful Zurich-Oberland region of Switzerland and in Ebeltoft, a nature reserve in Denmark.
Together with her family, she gathers the raw materials for her manufactory by hand, with great respect for nature.
These leaves, nuts, berries, bark and roots are used to produce 100% natural dyes. In addition to plants native to Switzerland, algae and plants from Rikke's home country of Denmark are also used, as well as sometimes exotic kitchen waste.
For dyeing, primarily GOTZ-certified, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified textiles or fabrics from controlled organic cultivation are used. Applications such as zippers are of high-quality Swiss manufacture with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, and the vegan faux leather labels are free of harmful substances and sustainably produced.
What also makes Troll Natural Dyeing so special is the 100% natural pretreatment of the textiles using pure organic soy instead of conventional chemical salts. This pretreatment is, of course, also done by hand and requires a great deal of time to achieve the longest possible results with skin-friendly compatibility.
With our dyed fabrics, we produce each product entirely by hand – from the first to the last step. This allows us to maintain complete control over the entire manufacturing process and to carefully personalize every detail.

NATURAL DYES
Plant dyes have a unique character, and their beautiful variations harmonize particularly well together. The color of a plant can vary considerably depending on its origin, the weather, the time of day it was picked, and, of course, the part of the plant used.
The finished fabrics can appear quite different depending on the light. Sunlight can not only fade certain shades over time, but even create a completely different color. Hand-dyed solid uni-colors without chemicals are particularly challenging, as the biological pigments are often mixtures of various colors, resulting in unique shades that are further influenced by time, temperature, movement, and the concentration of the pigments. This makes each piece very unique.
